ghana NEW YEAr & afrochella tour (9 DAYS)

Day 1 (26.12.2022):

Start the trip by being picked up in our air-conditioned

vehicle at the airport. After a traditional welcome, we will take you to your hotel. Get prepared for a fascinating and emotional tour filled with cultural and historic highlights of Ghana.

 

Day 2 (27.12.2022):

Your first stop in Accra takes you to Jamestown where the city of Your first stop in Accra takes you to  Jamestown where Accra originated. Wander through the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, 

Independence Square and W.E.B. DuBois Centre to learn about the Pan African culture, the history of Gold Coast and the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Visit the Makola Market and the Arts Centre, where you can watch the production of  

weaving baskets and other handcrafts. Get an introduction to local drumming music by the locals.

Listen to some typical live music in the evening time!

 

 

Day 3 (28.12.2022):

Today we visit the Afrochella Festival, a vibrant celebration of African culture. Experience music, African cuisine &

fashion throughout the day and enjoy the thrilling live performances!

 

Day 4 (29.12.2022):

Today we will start our journey to Kumasi in Ashanti Kingdom. We will take you to the Ashanti King´s Palace, wich was used by the Ashanti kings until 1974.

Continue to the "unmovable" Komfo Anokye Sword, which is said to be a symbol of unity between the Nzema and the Ashanti tribe. End your day with a visit at the busy Kejetia Market, the biggest market in West Africa with 

 over 45.000 stalls. 

 

Day 5 (30.12.2022):

After taking your breakfast, we continue to 

the Kente clothing weaving village, Adanwomase in Ashanti region, which carries on the centuries-old Kente-weaving tradition. After learning about the creation and tradition of Kente clothes you will be guided through the village. Visit the 

chief´s palace, the forest shrine and wander through the cocoa farm. Later we will continue to Adinkra village where you will be introduced to the traditional meaning of the Adinkra symbols. Take part in a workshop to design your own 

print clothes. Later we will meet the Queen Mother of the village during an official greeting ceremony and learn about the history of the community.

 

Day 6 (31.12.2022):

After starting our journey to Cape Coast, 

you will visit the Assin Manso Slave River. This river is where captured slaves from the Northern part of Ghana had their last bath before being transported to the Americas. After learning about this historic site you will visit one of the highlights of our tours, the home village of our founder Enock, a typical Ghanaian village close to Cape Coast. Be welcomed by the chief of the village during an official greeting ceremony, where you will hand over traditional gifts which we arranged in advance. Listen to the stories of the elders and learn about the 

history and traditions of the village and watch a typical cultural performance by the women and children of the village. Get an introduction to local cuisine by the family and enjoy a typical Ghanaian lunch together. You will be guided to the 

vegetable farm and the cocoa plantation, which is the main source of income for the village population. Get a taste of the typical village life in Ghana while fetching water from the nearby river. Visit the school project and say good bye 

to your new family before we continue our way to Cape Coast. 

 

Day 7 (01.01.2023):

Start your day with taking part in a head 

wrapping workshop in a local community of cape coast. Learn about how wraps identify a woman´s religion, social status and celebrations. Continue to Cape Coast Castle, which was used to hold slaves before they were loaded onto ships and sold in the Americas, especially the Caribbean. Start an emotional journey 

during which you will visit the dungeons and the door of no return. Receive a unique naming ceremony and get your own Ghanaian name. Later you will visit Fort Williams, which was built in 1753 by the British. 

 

Day 8 (02.01.2023):

After your breakfast, we continue to do a guided walking tour through Elmina to see the fishing harbor and traditional Posuban shrines of this historic town. Climb the stairs to Fort St. Jago and enjoy the view over the city. Afterwards we will visit the Elmina Castle and learn about the history as a major trans-Atlantic slave hub. Celebrate New Year´s Eve at a special party! 

 

Day 9 (03.01.2023):

In the morning you have time to rest at your hotel. In the afternoon we take you to the markets to do some last minute shopping! Loaded with unforgettable memories of your trip, we continue to Accra and take you to the airport to get your evening flight. Receive farewell wishes by your new Ghanaian friends and family at the airport.
